Day 287 | Farewell New York

Our week renting a flat in the West Village has been truly special. Not only did we get the local experience that we wanted, it felt like we were there for a very long time. Something that was really needed and also provided a mix of holiday and space to get some work done.

Some places make you feel at home straight away. The flat we stayed in did just that and when we woke up this morning both of us were quite sad to be leaving. We’ve had such a good week and have really gotten to know the local area and the streets of Manhattan. Though D and I both love where we live in London staying in the middle of things with so much on your doorstep, and in a flat that felt like a proper New York flat…. It was just lovely. Though a move to New York (for worried people back home) is not on the agenda, we’re definitely not finished with this lovely city and have started exploring opportunities that can bring us back for a bit longer than a week.

More than anything though, what our week in New York reminded me of is how time really is the most valuable thing we have in life. Spending a week together, being out a lot more than normal, and in a country where everything is possible, it’s hard not to see the value that lies in time. Both with regards to how important being together is, but also with regards to that with a bit of time you can accomplish a lot of things. Even if the time you have at hand is just a week.
