Day 199 | Stories that make you warm on the inside

The other week I was talking to a friend. She told me about a colleague who’s juggling a part time day job and her own startup at the same time, and how this girl goes straight from the day job to working on her startup until late at night. It made me all warm and fuzzy inside.

To some that would probably sounds strange or even like a nightmare, but to me that’s all I want to do at the moment. I love what I do and I love working on our company and products and I can’t wait until I’m properly focused on it again. I’m looking forward to the early mornings and the late nights, of sitting in emptier tube carriages as I head in and out of town. It will be hard and challenging but above all fun and an adventure.

Garrett Dimon, the founder of Sifter, wrote an excellent post called Being a Solo Founder of a 24×7 Hosted Web Application. It contains the ups and the downs and the compromises he’s had to make, the lack of holidays and the long hours. And that too made me warm and fuzzy inside.
Tara Hunt, the CEO and co-founder of Buyosphere, has written another post about the truth behind startup life and how being CEO is not so much “I’m CEO b*tch” for most startups, but more like the one man band who does absolutely everything. That too excites me.

I know it’s going to be a lot of work involved with byflock and our products. And I know it will be tough at times. But it doesn’t worry me. All of that will all work out in one way or another. And my gut reaction when reading or hearing these kind of stories reassures me that I’m definitely on the right path. This is what I’m mean to do.
