Day 015 | Week 2 summary

It’s been just over two weeks since I started this journey and my daily blog posts and I thought that every Sunday I’ll try to do a bit of a summary of the week. What I’ve learnt and what’s to come.

Week 1 flew past with just general setting up and planning ahead. It wasn’t until Day 007 that I got properly stuck in. Week 2 started with a lack of sleep as my mind kept me awake until the early hours of Monday morning. Unfortunately that night combined with a busy week at work has affected the productivity of week 2 somewhat. The general feeling has been that of trying to catch up. A bit of frustration around not having enough hours in the day, but all in all a sense of joy for how pleased I am to be doing this.

The Day by day project

I’ve committed to posting something every day and so far it’s gone well. One of the things I like the most is how each day, the post for the title I chose the day before is unfolding. I have something in mind when I pick the title, but not seldom does it change and take a different focus of what I initially intended.
E.g. my Day 008 | Excitement post was going to be about how thrilled and wonderful it is to finally have started on my ideas. It turned out to be about how excitement can change from one moment to the next. Another one is my Day 014 | Beautiful work post which I’d planned would contain a few samples of other people’s work that I really like. Instead it turned out to be about the danger of looking too much at what other people are doing.
As I’ve mentioned in Day 011 | To blog or not to blog I write these posts for a number of reasons, but the main purpose of all of this is to make my ideas happen. As a result I let these posts unfold in the way that is most natural. If not, I’ll end up trying to force the writing and that’s neither going to be enjoyable, nor time wise.

The response from you

Before all of this started my blog had a small number of visitors. Looking at the analytics this has changed. Not only are the number of daily visits increasing, but there is a substantial shift in the number of returning visitors and that’s lovely to see.
I’ve also had a fair few people telling me how they really enjoy these posts and I really appreciate it. It keeps me motivated and is great to know that someone on the other side is following. So thank you.

The research & what’s to come

The research has been progressing though there is a fair bit to go. It’s fun but also, as I’ve touched upon, rather intimidating to go into detail of what others are doing.
It’s still unsure what’s going to happen with the idea I’ve spent most of this week on, but next week I will start sharing more of it and what I’ve found so far with a trusted few. Up until now it’s been me, myself and I with the ideas and I’m keen to hear what other people have to say and at the same time I’ll also be discussing some of my other ideas.

Next week will be also be about actually trying to get that balance of things, but more about that tomorrow.
