Day 011 | To blog or not to blog

Yesterday on the train back from Manchester I told my BBC colleague about my commitment to blog every day during 2012 about this. He asked the question I asked myself when I decided to write something every day – Won’t it take away from doing the actual work itself?

I’m now 11 days into this part of the project and so far I’m loving it. As I’ve mentioned in my very first blog post – An information architect vs. a normal architect – I’d been wanting to write for a long time and now, a year and a bit in, I really enjoy it. My dad is a writer and I, just as him, often clarify my thoughts best when I do it in written form.

This year is going to be a journey. There will be lots of new areas that I’ll be exploring and without a doubt there will be times when I’ll be questioning what I’ve gotten myself into and if it’s worth it. As much as I write these posts because I want to share what I’m up to and what I learn, help and inspire others who are walking around with the same thoughts, just as much am I doing this for myself.
2012 Day by day is my therapy. My way of structuring my thoughts, a way to evaluate the day and to plan ahead for the next. And it will be a nice thing to look back on come the end of the year.

Some of the posts will be longer. Some very brief. Most don’t take very long to write and as you might have already noticed I’m adding featured post imagery as and when I find any that are fitting. This is not meant to steal from the time I spend on the ideas, but it’s part of my commitment – to post something every day. And no matter what happens to my ideas, if all else fails, at least I know one thing:

At any given point during 2012, I’ll know exactly how many days into the year we are, and so will you, if you keep on reading.
