Merry Christmas from a snowy Sweden

Normally we don’t get a white Christmas in Skåne, the part of Sweden that I’m from. This year we do, with full measure. In fact we’re the worst hit in all of our long, narrow country with near 30 cm/1ft of more snow expected over night to add to the around 60 cm/2ft of snow that is already covering the ground.

Add strong winds to that and you get massive snowdrifts in very inconvenient places. Walking from my mum to my dad’s this morning a near one meter (3ft) snowdrift had decided to settle in the middle of the road and before even getting down to the road my mum had to use all her powers to push the front door open enough so she could squeeze out, get a showel and clear some of the snow that was hording outside.

It’s increadibly beautiful with a glittering winter wonderland, but also proper chaos with transport down and people stuck with no hope of getting home in time for Christmas, which we celebrate tomorrow on the 24th here in Sweden.

I hope all of you have managed/will manage to get to where you need to be.

Merry Christmas
