Day 060 | The 60 day mark & my last day at the BBC
Today it’s been 60 days since I made it public to start on this adventure. It was also my last day at the BBC and tomorrow is the start of 2 1/2 weeks of working on our company.

Today it’s been 60 days since I made it public to start on this adventure. It was also my last day at the BBC and tomorrow is the start of 2 1/2 weeks of working on our company.

Being right in the beginning of a startup feels a little like all of a sudden being a one man band, having to play all the instruments in one go and learning as you go along.

I’ve freelanced for just over a year. The dream was always to have time to work on my stuff. To sit in a cafe and work and to be able to go for runs in the middle of the day. It hasn’t happened yet but on the 1st of March

This has been the first week that didn’t start great and where I felt deflated. But thankfully it changed and it’s ended on a much more positive note.

When you run a marathon you will hit the wall. After 21 miles of running your body simply runs out of glycogen and wants to shut down. This is the point where your will is tested most. You push through it. You force carbohydrates into your body although your stomach

It’s been a lovely day both weather and work wise. Camped out down on South Bank we’ve mostly focused on the business plan and it’s been a really useful exercise.

Sleep may be one of the first things that goes when you have a little too much to do. I’ve been pretty good lately at not sacrificing sleep for work. However, yesterday I read an article that made me want to stay up a little at night

For various reasons I’ve had a crap start to the week. My sister left on Sunday and I was so sleepy that I dosed off on the tube home. Come Monday all my energy and positivity was gone. I missed my sister lots and all I wanted to do was

…the next time you wake up in the middle of the night, think of your pre-industrial ancestors and relax. Lying awake could be good for you. From the BBC article The myth of the eight-hour sleep, an interesting read on how we back in the days used to sleep more

Yesterday I mentioned that the resources I’ve talked about were coming and today I’ve added a few pages to the site. They need work but I’ve started adding in some links and will add more as I go along.

On day 046 I mentioned that we’re keeping a Google spreadsheet with links to articles and other resources and how I’m in the process of adding them to the site.

When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money.

My sister’s visit was the last proper time off I’m having before SXSW. With just over 2 weeks left it’s full steam ahead and other than work it will mostly be about seeing D.

I haven’t worked at all the last two days. Instead I’ve spent the weekend with my sister who’s been over and it’s been lovely

Every now and then you do something or reach a place that gives you that feeling that everything is ok. That what ever trouble you might have had, it’s gone. In those moment nothing but right now matters.

In the last 2 weeks I’ve written a few posts about setting expectations, not forgetting, when it all comes down to it, what’s really important in life and, yesterday about being honest rather than saying ‘Maybe’ just to try to be nice.

I never cared much or was very good at the dating game. If I liked someone I’d text when I felt like it. If they didn’t respond or played the game with me, then I delete them from my mind.

We’re keeping a google spreadsheet with links to resources for small business and start ups that we’re coming across. In the next few days I’ll create a section on this site that holds them and I’ll keep adding things in there.

If you’re a hacker who has thought of one day starting a startup, there are probably two things keeping you from doing it. One is that you don’t know anything about business. The other is that you’re afraid of competition. Neither of these fences have any current in them. –
